VIOLIN LABELED " ALEXANDER ZANTI 1819". This violin is 4/4 size. Upon a very recent repair for a crack it was discovered that "July 10, 1885" was written in pencil on the inside of top and also "1885" was written in pencil on the inside ribs and assumed to be date of first repair. Also Walt Senkow marked inside that he re-graduated the top and put in a new bass bar in 1972. We assume he also glued in kleats on the top and back seams for strength. It can be noted that the border design around the inside label does match what an original Zanti looks like. The label in this violin was accidentally damaged during the recent repair. It's a old violin but we are just not certain how old. Violin was part of the Walt Senkow collection.
